Data We Collect
CellarTroll only collects data necessary for the app to function:
- Email address (for authentication and account management)
- Display name and optional bio (for your profile)
- Wine data (name, winery, vintage, region, rating, notes)
- Wine moments (date, location, occasion, notes, photos)
- Friend code and friendship connections
- Reactions on friends' moments
Local Storage
Your wine data is primarily stored locally on your device in a SQLite database. The app works fully offline. Cloud sync is optional.
Cloud Sync
When you sign in, your data is synced with Supabase (hosted on AWS in the EU region). This enables:
- Cross-device synchronization
- Social features (friends, feed)
Photos are stored in Supabase Storage and are only accessible to you and (for shared moments) your friends.
Social Features
When you share a moment as "Friends" or "Public", other users can see:
- Your display name
- The wine name and moment details
- Photos you attached to the moment
Private moments are only visible to you. You control the visibility of each moment.
AI Analysis
CellarTroll uses Google Gemini (Cloud) for wine label scanning and wine analysis. When you use these features, photos or wine data are sent to Google's API. Google processes these according to their privacy policy.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. Your wine data belongs to you.
Account Deletion
You can delete your account at any time from Settings. This permanently removes all your data from our servers:
- Profile and display name
- All synced wines and moments
- All photos in the cloud
- Friendship connections
Local data on your device is kept until you uninstall the app.
Your Rights (GDPR)
You have the right to:
- Access your stored data
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your data (delete account)
- Export your data (Settings > Export cellar)
